Winnipeg hands down punishment during probe into inspectors’ work logs

WINNIPEG — The City of Winnipeg says three employees have been suspended without pay, two others have quit and one has retired as an internal investigation continues into city property inspectors who allegedly slacked off on the job.

The suspensions will remain in place, pending the outcome of the investigation.

The city paid $18,000 for video surveillance evidence compiled by a private investigator who was hired by a group frustrated with the inspectors’ actions.

Angie Cusson, Winnipeg’s director of human resources, says the video was helpful in the city’s probe

Cusson says she expects more discipline to be handed down by the time the investigation wraps up this month.

A final report to the city’s chief administrator with recommendations and results is also set for this month. (CTV Winnipeg)
